I often wonder about the impact I have on this world. I think about my consumption patterns and how much waste I create. Am I making a positive impact or negative? What can I change to do a better job? Should I compost? What are the best choices to make when buying products to clean my house? Am I contributing to social justice or injustice? What do my buying habits tell companies that I want? Am I making the best choices that I can?
Obviously I don’t think about these all the time or all at once, but an undercurrent of my life is the notion that I want to leave this place better than I found it.
I am also a nature-nut and love being outdoors and gawking at beautiful landscapes. (Not to mention the fact that I’m a big fan of fresh air and clean water.) The combination of my outdoors-loving-self with the “do better” goal has led me to really pursue living a greener life.
Now, I am not living off the grid in a yurt, growing all my own food, or making my own clothes from animal hides or anything (more power to you if you are!). What I do believe is that living green shouldn’t be hard! It’s supposed to be living with nature [in mind], going with the flow of literally everything else on the planet; not against it! I admit, I am not an expert, but I am trying to improve and will share my ups, downs, ins, and outs about all of that here.
