Little seeds are sound-bite posts where I share a quick thought, video, article, or some other bit of interesting information.
I love candles. I love the scents, I love the cozy ambiance they provide, the subtle glow they add to a room. But what I don’t love are all the chemicals that go along with traditional paraffin wax candles. Paraffin wax is derived from petroleum so it’s damaging to the environment to create (less fossil fuels please!!), and releases toxins as it burns. It can be difficult to navigate which candles contain good ingredients from those that contain bad ones – there’s a LOT of green-washing that happens, I imagine since candles are so popular.
I came across this article from SHE Changes Everything a while ago that really helped me out. It contains a guide to help you pick the best candles you can based on the wax, the wick, and the scent. It is really straight forward and easy to understand so next time you’re looking to buy some candles – check it out!
